treat night - camping style

Every second Sunday we get together with our friends for treat night. The kids (and parents) all love to spend time together and through the years we've found other ways to spend more time together. Last year we went camping and the kids have now decided it is tradition. So we headed to Shady Acres for a quick overnighter and then over to the reservoir to play in the water and kayak.

It was a lot of work for a 24 hour trip, but it was definitely worth it! We love our treat night friends! ♥♥♥

pioneer day 2018

We enjoyed a picnic at the park while daddy was at work (boo for not working for a Utah company!) While we were there, the kids took turns shaking up the bottle of cream so that we could have butter on our scones later. They thought it was cool, but Rudger was amazed by it all! I love five year old boys! ♥♥

We had dinner and talked about some of our pioneers. What a blessing it is to have the ancestors that we have and that we are where we are now because of each one of them. I hope the kids learn the values and hard work from those who came before them and especially appreciate that we live at a time when the gospel is on the earth. We have so many things to be thankful for, especially for family - before, now, and in the future.

june hikes

The number one activity I wanted to do with the kids this summer was weekly hikes. That was one of my fondest memories from last summer and I wanted to relive it. And luckily I have the greatest friend who helped make this happen. We sat down towards the end of the school year and came up with a list of hikes we wanted to go on.

For our kids, the best kinds of hikes are those that will allow them to explore and adventure to their hearts content. The word hiking is used very loosely. We are adventuring!

Kaysville East Mountain Wilderness Park Trail
Perfect for exploring, 10 minutes away, and some really pretty areas. Unfortunately it was pretty hot on the mountainside and some of us had allergies that were going crazy :(

Silver Lake
Beautiful hike up Big Cottonwood. Take me to the pines, aspens, and water and I'm very happy!

Green Pond
We came here on a whim, as a family, a few days before. We loved it and really wanted to bring our friends back. Beautiful hike!

After the Green Pond hike, we headed over to Pineview reservoir and I just fell in love with this picture. ♥♥♥
