Adeline is three

Happy Birthday to our Adeline! When I woke up in the morning, I walked outside and saw the most amazing sunrise after the nighttime rainstorm we had. There was even a double rainbow! It was the perfect sign that it was going to be a beautiful day celebrating our girl.

Adeline is in the thick of her love for princesses so we couldn't turn down an opportunity to have a princess photo shoot on her birthday and she loved (almost) every minute of it. Corbin and his friend were standing behind me for part of it and got her laughing and smiling so well.

Adeline felt like a princess all day as her brothers showered her with love. She was excited about her cake and all the extra attention.

We are all so grateful that Adeline is in our family! She is full of spunk and sweetness and we couldn't love her more!

rudger + adeline

Rudger doesn't go to school until after lunch, which leaves lots of time for these two kids to play, cuddle, eat, and laugh. Their relationship is quite adorable. I would be very content if they stayed this little for a really long time.

momma's girl

Adeline is the biggest momma's girl and I really don't mind one bit.

We always felt like five kids was our number. Having each of our kids has been some of the happiest moments of our married life. I felt so much like a 'boy mom' after having Levi and I truly loved it! After we moved into our current home, we were completely ready for another baby. Before we even became pregnant, I just KNEW it would be another boy and I was more than okay with it. I didn't like that people seemed to pity me. I was SO happy to have another boy. (and looking back, we can't imagine our life without Rudger, he was meant to come to us at that time)

When we started talking about having our last baby, I felt slightly nervous. I knew five was our number, but this felt so final. If we were to have another boy that would be just fine, but my heart did long to have a girl and I so badly wanted to see Justin with a daughter.

We had an ultrasound when I was almost 14 weeks pregnant. The doctor asked if we should check the gender, I didn't think that was possible, but sure. When he started looking, we found something that looked a lot like it was a boy. My heart did sink just slightly, but then it was gone. The doctor kept checking and then told me he was 95% sure it was a girl. I didn't believe him. My 17 week appointment came and he said 99% sure. I sort of believed him then. The nurses told me that if he said 99%, then you can trust him. At my official big ultrasound appointment, they said 99.9999%

The day she was born, the first thing I said was, "is it really a girl" and then I cried happy tears. I felt so lucky to have a daughter!

So yes, from day one she has been a huge mama's girl! She has plenty of moments when she just wants daddy, but in the end, we all know who she prefers :)  Adeline often comes running over to me, grabs my legs, and turns back to her brothers and yells, "no, it's my mama"  So yes, she is a mamma's girl ♥♥

This girl is so loved and absolutely perfect for our family. Her brothers are obsessed with her. I love seeing how excited they get about their nightly ritual of hugs and kisses from their sister. Every school morning she stands at the top of the garage stairs and waves to her brothers "bye Din, bye Taya, bye Deedye" and then goes on to blow them lots and lots of kisses. She obviously loves them too.

Adeline loves all things girly. She has been obsessed with Moana since earlier this year. ♥ She and I will dance in the kitchen and loudly sing "no one knoooooows, how far it gooooooes". It's one of my favorites. But we are starting to notice that huge love of Moana is slowly fading and she's realizing there are other princesses. She mostly knows about them from books. (love!) But I guess she and I need to have some Disney princess marathons.

Adeline loves books and she has to have at least three when she goes to bed at night. I think that's the key of why she goes to bed so well. We have a pretty good night routine. Obviously it starts with hugs and kisses from brothers and daddy, then we sit down on the floor and read a book, once we're done with the book she folds her arms and we pray, then she grabs her handful of books and stands at her crib waiting for me to put her in. :) I love her!

Whenever she wants food, she opens the kid drawer and pulls out every colored plate until she finds the purple one, then hands it to me to get some food for her. Sometimes she'll go for pink, but nine out of ten times it's purple.

But I have to say one of my favorites is seeing her and Rudger play trains. She loves trains and cars! And it makes me happy to see that she is very well-rounded.

I really could not have hand picked a better daughter. I think Heavenly Father knew exactly who we needed. ♥♥♥

Happy second birthday Adeline!
