Day 2 in Oregon

For the first full day at the beach house, the kids didn't waste any time sleeping in late. They couldn't wait to walk out the back door and head to the beach to play. The sand was warm, the sky was blue, the water was cold, and their smiles were extra big. Adeline thought it was the funnest to bury everybody in the sand and then begged to be burried herself. 

Some of the most important things to do while on the Oregon coast is...see the lighthouses and the tidepools. So of course we did both. Our treat night friends loved exploring and seeing these sights for the first time. 

Justin and Corbin really wanted to try mussels, so they gathered a handful of them and brought them home to cook up. They both tolerated them and I even tried a bite (which I never thought I would do), but once was probably enough.

The most lovely part of the day. Eating dinner on the back patio while the sun was going down. There's nothing quite like it. ♥

heading to Oregon!!!!

Three years later and we're heading back to our favorite place. But this time, with friends...staying at a beach house...for a week. We were all so excited!! (and luckily Adeline did so much better on the drive then the last time we went). We sent this first picture to grandma Morris letting her know we remembered to take the nuts to Grandma and Grandpa Gerhauser, that was our first stop on our adventure. We loved spending a few hours with the two of them. ♥♥

We spent the first night at a hotel in Pendleton, we don't do that much so the kids thought it was the best. We even got to swim in the ghetto swimming pool. But breakfast in the morning, that did not dissapoint :) 

We met the Worthens at Multnomah (we were suppose to meet the Ramptons and Mandi/Jon there, but that unfortunately didn't work out). We had a good long hike that was absolutely beautiful. 

After the hike we stopped by the Portland Temple (this temple has a special place in Justin's heart). It was unfortunately closed at the time, but it was still beautiful. 

The drive from there was long, but oh so scenic - one of the best parts about coming to Oregon. We stopped by a hamburger place that was a couple of blocks from the beach and then found ourselves walking towards the beach and spending some time in the most perfect light playing on the beach. It felt so good to be back. 

We got to the beach house pretty late, being welcomed by our friends, ready for a week of memories.

July days

:: Justin found a cherry tree in the mountains + a waterfall hike ::

:: free slurpee day! + red, white, and blue (purple, but close enough) potatoes from our garden - add some rosemary and it's perfection ::

:: shucking corn + garden dinner (my favorite!!) ::

:: the kids helped me make a peanut butter, cheesecake, chocolate cake + it had some serious layers ::

:: it was a serious labor of love + treat night game ::

:: picnic at the park playing the ha-ha game + charcuterie board ::

:: these two have been friends since they were four, it was so fun to see them! + swimming and popcicles ::

I took a ton of pictures in July, but they are all on other posts because we had an incredibly, memorable July. Visits from cousins, camping, hikes, and an epic trip to Oregon with friends. Not a whole lot of boring, everyday stuff. Although, I love those days too!
